Reserve the Chapel
Before making your reservation at the Chapel, it is recommended that you confirm your date selection with your reception site as well as important participants and vendors. Once you have your date selected and confirm that the date and ceremony time you desire is available at the Chapel, you can call or come to the office in person to complete your reservation. Due to the high demand for wedding reservations at the Chapel, no “holds” can be placed on dates.

Wedding Reservations within 12 Months
If you reserve a wedding date fewer than 12 months in advance, payment of the entire rental fee and $50 non-refundable administrative fee in full is required to secure a permanent reservation.
Wedding Reservations beyond 12 Months
If you reserve a wedding date more than 12 months in advance, half of the reservation fee and the $50 administrative fee will secure a conditional reservation. Campus departments have priority to reserve the Chapel for campus events as long as they contact the Reservations Office more than 12 months in advance. This means that if you select a date more than 12 months in advance, your date might need to change if the University makes wishes to reserve the same date and time that you have requested. If this happens, we will notify you immediately and try to find a suitable alternative date. If no alternative can be found, your entire deposit will be refunded.
If you are not asked to reschedule by the first of the month that is 12 months before your wedding, payment of the balance of your rental fee will be required to make your reservation permanent. If the last payment is not received, it will result in a cancelled reservation.
This situation is rare as many of the major events held at the Chapel are known years in advance so no weddings are allowed to be scheduled on these dates.
Reservations Agreement
An original signed Reservation Agreement is required to finalize a reservation at the Chapel. The signed Agreement confirms that our clients understand and agree to abide by University of Maryland and Memorial Chapel policy. A signed Agreement is due to the Reservations Office within two weeks of the initial reservation date. (The initial reservation date is the day when payment is taken to reserve a couple’s desired wedding date.) If a signed Agreement is not returned within two weeks, the reservation will be cancelled and the reservation deposit will be refunded but not the $50 administrative fee.
